The World of NCIS as seen by Kate Todd
Over 5years ago I was shot by Ari Haswari, rogue son of Mossad Director Eli David, but my boss saved my life. Tony calls it destiny... I call it luck. That day I could have died but here I am, still working for NCIS. Every other day we put ourselves out in the field and carry out federal investigations. To outsiders they may seem the same and although they follow a similar pattern, each investigation is a unique bitter experience for us. We receive a call... drive like crazy to the murder scene... explain that NCIS is not the FBI or no it is not CSI spelled wrongly... search for evidence; bag and tag it before sending it to Abigail 'Abby' Sciuto, our amazing Caf-Pow addicted goth Forensic Scientist... more often than not we have a corpse for our Medical Examiner, Scottish Dr. Donald 'Ducky' Mallard who entertains us with his stories... we follow leads... interrogate suspects... and finally uncover the truth to catch the culprit/s.
We are the Infallible Five or as the agency calls the Alpha Squad. Leroy Jethro Gibbs is the Special Agent in Charge; he seldom smiles and has the innate ability to appear when you least expect him. He was the one who offered me a job with NCIS - Gibbs believed in me and gave me another chance after I endangered the president. I learnt my lesson from that experience and vowed never to repeat that mistake again. Despite his rough personality Gibbs was like a father to his team. Next up is Anthony DiNozzo, the team's Senior Special Agent or as he likes to call himself "very special agent". We are all the time at each other's throat for one reason or another. He adores junk food and quotes movie lines non-stop. Tony is a notorious womanizer but what ticks me off the most is his habit of going through my things. Despite his bad qualities, the good ones always shine through and he is my favourite agent to care about - don't tell him i said that.
Not long after I joined NCIS, we met Timothy McGee. At the time he was stationed in Norfolk and only joined our investigations when needed, but now he is our resident Junior Agent. Tim is my team partner and our own computer geek. He's very intelligent, competent and resourceful - admittedly he is also very very easy to pick on. At times I wonder if we torment him too much, but then I picture his expressions... priceless! When he was first transferred to D.C. he was very shy and accepted our taunting in silence but now he is breaking through his shell, which makes for an interesting change. Last but not least is our Probationary Agent Ziva David. Yes she is Eli's daughter, which makes her the sister of the man who tried to assassinate me. After Ari's death she became a Mossad Liaison Officer to NCIS and eventually obtained full citizenship to became a NCIS agent.
Naturally it is not only us seven that make up the whole of NCIS. There is Director Jennifer Shepard and Deputy Director Leon Vance. Not to mention the other MTAC teams each with 5 Agents - Special Agent in Charge (appointed by staff); Senior Special Agent; Special Agent; Junior Agent; Probationary Agent -, a Psychologist/Sociologist, a Forensic Specialist and a Medical Examiner. From time to time we are forced to work with the Army, FBI, CIA, JAG and even Mossad. During these joined investigations we tend to "accidentally" not give them all the information. If you are interested in knowing which of the Alpha Squad, our co workers, family and friends are available simply visit the Canon List and Open Original Character List. Like all respectable agencies we have our Rules and we're very strict about them. To take a tour of our HQ, visit us on The World of NCIS
